Two long-serving SCORE counselors retire - Grand Forks Herald

Two long-serving members of the Grand Forks Senior Core of Retired Executives have retired.

Jack Kramer retired from SCORE on Jan. 15, after spending 33 years with the organization. Kramer is a retired pharmacist who owned his store, ran a card and gift store and a chain of costume jewelry shops. Kramer also was a majority owner of a women’s clothing store. He retired in 1985 then joined SCORE two years later. He advised clients on a variety of retail enterprises.

Marlan Helgeson also has retired, after spending 30 years with SCORE. Helgeson is a retired executive with U.S. West Communications, where he spent 32 years. Helgeson has been an active business counselor with SCORE for the past three decades and served as president in 2002 and 2003.

Helgeson has won various awards over the years, including the prestigious Henry Havig Award, in 2003. He has served as the chairman of the UND Chester Fritz Advisory Board, district chairman for the Boy Scouts of America in Jamestown and as district governor of the 5-NE Lions association.
