The 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship has finally arrived, and when No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Ohio State finally kick it off in Hard Rock Stadium on Monday night, it will be one of the most highly-anticipated title games of the playoff era. In addition of being a rematch of Ohio State's stunning upset win against Alabama in the semifinals of the first playoff, the game truly features a best-on-best matchup between two teams, and two programs, that annually have the most talented rosters in the country.
The tale of the tape is not as long for an Ohio State team that played a shortened scheduled with a delayed start, but the Buckeyes' dominant win against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl eliminated any doubt as to whether they belong in the running for the national title. Alabama has had its own heightened motivation after missing the CFP for the first time last season. The Crimson Tide first took back the SEC West, then the SEC and even the Heisman Trophy with DeVonta Smith becoming the first wide receiver to win the award since Desmond Howard in 1991. Now Alabama will try to complete the sweep by winning the national title as well, giving Nick Saban six titles at Alabama and seven overall. These are the two best teams in the country on paper, they've gone and proven it on the field, and now we get to see who remains undefeated after 60 minutes in Miami Gardens, Florida.
