Mark Dombroski, a 19-year-old rugby player from St. Joseph's, died from a fall, according to an independent pathologist.
Dombroski, a freshman who went missing over the weekend and whose body was found Monday, was not the victim of foul play.
Christopher Milroy said Thursday during a news conference that injuries Dombroski suffered were consistent with those found after a fall from a very high spot. Bermuda police found Dombroski's body in a dry moat at the base of a fort. It is about a 35-foot drop from the ground to the base of the moat.
"I found no evidence of foul play in my postmortem examination," Milroy said.
NBC10 in Philadelphia was first to report the news.
"The truth of the matter is we may never find out how he came to fall," Superintendent Sean Field-Lament said.
According to police, Dombroski was last seen by his family and friends just after midnight Sunday at a restaurant called The Dog House. His family reported him missing when he didn't show up for the flight home.
Police said surveillance camera footage showed Dombroski alone just after 1 a.m. walking in an area about 20 minutes from the old fort. About 30 minutes later, footage showed him on a road close to where his body was found, with his wallet and cellphone.
A toxicology exam will be done later, officials said.
