Brit names David Cary Deputy Head of Property Treaty, Bermuda - Reinsurance News

Brit Ltd has appointed David Cary as Deputy Head of Property Treaty, Bermuda.

brit-logoCary holds almost 20 years of experience in the reinsurance sector, having most recently served as Underwriting Manager and Head of Property & Casualty, Bermuda for QBE Re.

Before this, he held senior roles at both Swiss Re and Willis Re.

In his new role as Deputy Head of Property Treaty, Cary will report to Kristina Maffit, Head of Property Treaty Bermuda.

Jon Sullivan, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, Brit, commented, “David will strengthen our well-established Property Treaty offering, which brings together our Bermuda and London teams as one platform for the benefit of our clients.

“Having held senior underwriting roles in Bermuda for a number of years, David’s appointment will help deepen our presence and capabilities on the Island as we look to evolve and grow in Property Treaty and we look forward to benefiting from David’s technical expertise and experience of developing profitable reinsurance portfolios.”

In related news, Brit recently launched Brit Cyber First50, a new $50m Primary Brit-led and managed Lloyd’s Consortium developed to improve the efficiency of cyber placement for large institutional clients with revenues of $10 billion or more.

According to the firm, as cyber losses increase in both frequency and size, this initiative will assist with the growing need of corporates to secure higher cyber limits.
