CHARLOTTE — One person was taken to a hospital after nearly drowning Monday at the Pine Island Country Club near Hickory Creek Road in northwest Charlotte, officials said.
At about 7 p.m., two friends of the near-drowning victim called 911.
Emergency crews responded to the call at a pond on the golf course in about four minutes and divers pulled someone from it.
Before that, a neighbor said he saw children playing by the pond when he started to mow his yard.
The neighbor then saw firefighters pull up. He pointed crews to where he saw the children playing.
Once the dive team was called in, it took them seven minutes to find the person and pull them from the water, officials said.
The near-drowning victim had life-threatening injuries and was taken to Atrium Health CMC.
The name, age, and gender of the near-drowning victim have not yet been released.
