Bermuda will compete in Premier League
The Barbados national team have accepted an offer to compete in a new Bermuda Premier League cricket competition.
The squad from the Caribbean will be joined by a club from Antigua to take on the Bermuda national team and a potential second XI made up of some of the most talented players on the island in the tournament.
The event, which will be held from September 6 to 10 at the National Sports Centre and White Hill Field, is a precursor to the ICC T20 World Cup Americas qualifier, in which Bermuda will aim to secure direct qualification to the 2024 World Cup
In light of those two tournaments, the Bermuda Cricket Board has sent out a Request for Proposal, which is an opportunity for service providers to tender for business at the two prestigious competitions.
Rajan Simons, the BCB marketing and fund development manager, is urging businesses to apply, with the application process being conducted online at the BCB website.
“We thought that we should equally allow businesses, companies and individuals to be a part of the Bermuda Premier League and the ICC Americas Qualifier,” Simons said.
“We want to get the best value for money. We are a registered charity and get our finding from ICC, Government and corporate sponsorship but this also gives small businesses, creatives and entertainers a chance to be seen at such a high-level event.
The deadline for those wishing to be a part of the two tournaments is June 9, with the contracts set to be awarded on or before July 3.
A meeting will take place with those contracted on July 24.
