The Best Room at The Loren at Pink Beach - Town & Country

Our column "The Best Room At" offers a glimpse inside some of the most charming, luxurious, and iconic properties around the world.

As the plane touches down in Bermuda, an island in a vast stretch of Atlantic blue, dotted with pastel houses, you know you're in for a treat. After a quick 10-minute car ride from the airport through winding, tree-lined roads enveloped in lush green, an elegant hideaway awaits—a place where modern design, intuitive service, and understated luxury reign.

Standing on Bermuda's iconic Pink Beach, named for its lightly dusted pink tone, The Loren is a place for the ultimate R&R. There's a soft, reassuring quality to this hotel, where nothing is overbearing, nothing is over-the-top, yet everything is exquisitely curated. It has an artful balance of minimalism and grandeur in décor, from the natural-cedarwood wall accents to the sculptural spiral staircase in the lobby. And, despite the feeling of being far-flung, it's only a 90-minute flight from New York City and just two hours from other East Coast hubs.

The Loren offers a luxurious reprieve at every corner—lounging in a private cabana at the Pink Beach Club, admiring the museum-quality artworks, or soaking in seemingly infinite ocean views from your private balcony. Here, Tarryn Clark, general manager of The Loren, highlights what makes the hotel so singular.

What do you consider to be the best room on the property and why?

The two or three-bedroom balcony suites, designed by Eric McClelland of Fleur-de-lis Interior Design, are spacious and soothing, with hues of warming beiges, grays, and soft touches of blue. They're outfitted with textured furnishings, an array of art and architecture books, and accents of intricate metalwork and stone pottery—all brought together by a large custom rug in creamy tones and ocean views. But it's the size of the suites that will get you, which are between 1,600 and 2,220 square feet.

The main bedroom features a cloud-like bed outfitted with Italian pillows and bedding, a seating area, roomy closets, and a desk. There are two sprawling en suite bathrooms, with deep soaking tubs and walk-in rain spa showers, plus a separate powder room. Stays here may also include surprise elements: You have a rose or eucalyptus bath bomb waiting for you at the end of the night.

While these are certainly the best rooms available, there are, however, one- or three-bedroom villas on the property too. Each villa comes with a private heated pool, a gas fireplace, and an open-concept kitchen and dining area. For the ultimate extravagance, the sprawling Residence includes eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms within a 10,700-square-foot abode, decked out with nearly 20-foot-tall windows and ocean views at nearly every turn. Originally designed as a private getaway for the owner, it offers everything you could possibly need all in one place, plus a private beach, a tennis court, a guest cottage, and full staffing. The Residence now hosts multi-generational families and super celebs on holiday.

How much does it cost?

During the high season (May through July), the two-bedroom balcony suites start at around $3,185 per night and the one-bedroom villa with a private pool starts at $2,975 per night. The Residence goes for around $15,000 per night.

How would you describe the general atmosphere and vibe of the hotel?

Art and music are big aspects of the property. The aesthetic is thoughtful, with natural elements designed to connect with the environment. Take The Loren's Pink Beach Club, for example: Unlike at other beach clubs, where the music can throb at an unbearable pulse, here you can immerse yourself in the surrounding environment, while a carefully chosen playlist streams in the background and changes according to the space and time of day.

What are the dining options in the hotel?

Down at the Pink Beach Club restaurant, which is open from breakfast to dinner, expect to find seafood-centric cuisine and upscale fare in an open-air, natural-wood-lined environment that hugs the sea. Despite being on an island where so many goods are imported, it locally sources ingredients whenever possible, from the farm-fresh cherry tomatoes and organic eggs to the freshly caught red hind or lionfish. It's this attention to detail and locality and this balance that make The Loren experience top-notch.

Dinner and cocktails are served in the Marée Lounge in the evenings, as are special culinary events scheduled throughout each season, like our Dine & Wine Series, which focuses on international cuisine served family-style, and a Full Moon BBQ. The annual Guest Chef Series highlights local Bermudian ingredients through the lens of award-winning chefs.

What are the best things to do in the hotel?

Spending time at the Pink Beach Club in a private cabana (outfitted with agua fresca, a bottle of prosecco, and a charcuterie board), weekend yoga classes, and trying one of the signature Sisley Phyto-Aromatic spa treatments are all amazing. The hydrating facial, for instance, utilizes 21 luxury products from Paris and is designed to drain, lift, and firm the face using a relaxing, fluttering massage around the cheekbones and eyes. The Loren's location is one of 27 spas in the world that use Sisley products, and technicians are trained in this distinctive Parisian tradition.

What is the one thing about the hotel that you think first-time visitors will find surprising?

There's museum-quality contemporary art throughout the hotel. Each piece complements the modern aesthetic of the hotel and the natural beauty of Bermuda. It feels like an art gallery throughout the common spaces and suites.

What do you think sets The Loren at Pink Beach apart from its peers in the area?

Everything at The Loren—with its elevated, understated luxury—is designed to awaken the senses, leaving you wanting more long after you leave. The real highlight of the balcony suites is pulling back the curtains, sliding open the large glass doors, and stepping out onto the prodigious balcony. Here you get a stunning 180-degree view of the ocean, vivid blue and picturesque, as well as a full dining table and ample seating area. There are ocean views at nearly every turn of the hotel.
