'Privacy In Bermuda, Are We Ready for PIPA?' - Bernews

The Bermuda chapter of ISACA announced today that it will be hosting a panel discussion on privacy and data protection titled ‘Privacy in Bermuda and Beyond: Are We Ready for PIPA?’ at its AGM on March 1st 2023 starting 5.30pm at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club.

A spokesperson said, “The panel will feature Dr. Marisa Stones, Senior Analyst at the Government’s Privacy and PATI Unit, Kimberley D. Caines-Best, Senior Legal Counsel, Argus Americas, Melanie Fullerton, Senior Counsel of Walkers [Bermuda] Limited, Brett Henshilwood, Partner, Deloitte Bermuda. The panel discussion will be moderated by Alex White, Privacy Commissioner of Bermuda.

“Previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA serves a broad range of IT governance professionals and is eager to regroup with its members and to discuss the topical issue of privacy and data protection.”

Outgoing president of ISACA Bermuda Chapter Kateryna Gorbunova said, “This will be the first in-person event held by our Chapter in three years. I am excited to lead our comeback with a discussion around the key topic of privacy. The Board of the ISACA Bermuda Chapter is looking forward to catching up and networking with our members and old friends, and to meeting new faces in Bermuda’s IT community.”

Alex White, Bermuda’s first and current Privacy Commissioner, who is also a member of ISACA, said: “There’s no time better than 2023 to discuss the major issues facing information technology governance. While we often think of cybersecurity, risk management, or data privacy as separate fields, they involve overlapping responsibilities that make each component critical to protect individuals from harm. I’m delighted to join our local experts to explore these topics in both the global and local context at the ISACA AGM.”
