The U.S. men's basketball team has a lot of work to do ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
After losing to Nigeria in its first exhibition game on Saturday, Team USA fell to Australia on Monday night, marking the first time it has lost back-to-back exhibition games since professionals began playing in 1992.
Professionals started playing for Team USA in 1992:
July 21, 1992-July 9, 2021: 10,581 days, 2 exhibition losses

Spurs guard Patty Mills led the way in Australia's 91-83 win, scoring 22 points and hitting clutch shots down the stretch. Jazz forward Joe Ingles contributed 17 points, and 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle filled up the box score with 12 points, three assists, three steals, two rebounds and two blocks.
NBA All-Stars Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant combined for 39 of Team USA's 83 points in the loss. While the roster clearly has a ton of talent, this group has failed to execute at a consistently high level on either end of the floor. Team USA will look to bounce back and capture its first exhibition victory against Argentina on Tuesday.

9:10 p.m. — Kevin Durant remains a cheat code.
Halftime: USA 46, Australia 37
8:50 p.m. — Damian Lillard leads all scorers with 16 first-half points, but the real story here is Team USA's improved defensive effort. Australia struggled to find any offensive flow in the second quarter because of Team USA's ball pressure and intensity.
8:40 p.m. — Bradley Beal shows off his speed and throws down the easy two-handed slam.
8:30 p.m. — A rough offensive start to the second quarter for both squads. Team USA and Australia have scored only four total points through the first three-plus minutes of the period.
End of first quarter: USA 27, Australia 24
8:20 p.m. — Damian Lillard is heating up. The Trail Blazers star already has 11 points.
8:10 p.m. — Good news for Australia: Joe Ingles has drilled his first three 3-pointers. Bad news for Australia: Aron Baynes appeared to suffer a right knee injury after a collision with Bradley Beal.
8 p.m. — The starters for each team...
- USA: Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Jerami Grant, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green
- Australia: Matthew Dellavedova, Patty Mills, Joe Ingles, Jock Landale, Aron Baynes
7:45 p.m. — One thing to watch in this game: Nigeria went 20 of 42 from 3-point range in its victory. Team USA has to tighten up the perimeter defense against Australia.
7:30 p.m. — Team USA is hoping the blue uniforms will bring better luck than the white set.
