It’s been a long and arduous season for both the Denver Broncos and their fans, but we all have a chance to end it with a smile if the team can top the Las Vegas Raiders to close things out.
A majority of the people who voted in our poll earlier this week would prefer the Broncos go for the better draft pick and lose this game, but I just can’t bring myself to do that. I grew up in Northern California and have a special dislike of the Raiders. The only thing I can do is root for the win here even if it screws Denver out of a Hall of Fame player come April. The draft is a crap shoot anyway. It could be a Hall of Fame player or a bust and we won’t know for years later.
All of us here who participated in this week’s score prediction post are predicting wins too, so that sentiment must be pretty strong out there despite those poll results. Collectively, we see a Broncos 26-23 win over the Raiders in Week 17.
Here is how we predict things to go individually.
Broncos 31, Raiders 27
Drew Lock closed out the season on a high note and gives us all a little hope that he is progressing towards something we can all get behind in 2021. The defense, despite the laundry list of injuries, continue to do just enough to keep the game close. Oh, and Jerry Jeudy has himself a huge bounce back game in the win too. - Tim Lynch
Broncos 19, Raiders 16
On the MHR Radio Podcast, I told Ian that I predicted a score of thirty-who cares? to 20-no one, Raiders. However, upon further reflection, this is exactly the type of game the Broncos would win. It’s Raider week, and Vic Fangio will have his defense ready to go. The secondary will be a problem, but the defensive line can compensate. There’s an opportunity for Drew Lock and the offense to show progress and build up that elusive momentum that so many think will carry over for the next 8 months. A home win, and a worse draft pick. - Adam Malnati
Broncos 24, Raiders 21
If both Bradley Chubb misses the game (Shelby Harris is already on injured reserve), I think it’ll come down to the Broncos offense. If Pat Shurmur can keep Lock out of obvious passing downs, I like their chances. If he can’t? I don’t. - Joe Rowles
Broncos 31, Raiders 27
Even though I predicted the Broncos would lose on the MHR Radio Podcast, I can’t actually put that prediction into words. I’m one of the few remaining fans who still thinks this rivalry is relevant and means something. Yes, the coaches and players have changed but it’s the same hatred regardless of who is on the field. It’s hatred for the silver and black, not who wears it. Beating the Raiders was also one of three items on Pat Bowlen’s to-do list. - Ian St. Clair
Broncos win!
Broncos WIN, Raiders LOSE. Because they are LOSERS, no matter what the f**king score says at the end. - Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann
