USMNT REWIND: McKennie, Pulisic and Reyna Score on Milestone Day for USMNT Players in Europe - U.S. Soccer

It was a milestone weekend for U.S. Men’s National team players across Europe.

Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna and Christian Pulisic found the back of the net for their respective clubs on Saturday, marking the first time U.S. players have scored on the same day in the Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and English Premier League.

McKennie also became the first American to score for Juventus and third USMNT player to register a goal in Serie A.

Only six minutes after coming on as a substitute, the 22-year-old midfielder scored for Juve in its 2-1 home win over Torino in the Derby della Mole. McKennie headed home a Juan Cuadrado cross in the 77th minute to knot things up at 1-1 before teammate Leonardo Bonucci tallied the game-winner in the 89th minute.

He joined Michael Bradley and Alexi Lalas as USMNT players who have scored in Serie A.

On loan from Schalke 04 with an option to buy, McKennie has made five starts and 10 appearances for Juve and has also registered an assist.

In Germany, Gio Reyna produced some magic and an important goal for Borussia Dortmund, converting the equalizer in its 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.

With Dortmund trailing in the 56th minute, the 18-year-old attacker tallied his second goal of the season. Reyna took a pass from Jadon Sancho on the left flank of the attacking third, worked his way around defender Martin Hinteregger and drilled a brilliant 16-yard strike into the upper left corner past goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Dortmund played without lethal striker Erling Haaland, who has been sidelined with a hamstring tear that will keep him out of action through December.

In England, Christian Pulisic tallied his first English Premier League goal for Chelsea this season, connecting three minutes into stoppage time to cap a 3-1 home win over Leeds United. The victory propelled the Blues atop the EPL for the time being. They sit a point ahead of Tottenham, which hosts Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.

After coming on as a substitute for the injured Hakim Ziyech in the 30th minute, the 22-year-old midfielder slid home a pin-point right-wing cross from Timo Werner for an insurance goal past goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Pulisic also reached a milestone, becoming the fastest American to reach 10 EPL goals. He accomplished the feat in 30 matches, breaking the record set by Roy Wegerle (49 games). Pulisic was the fourth USMNT player to reach double digits in EPL goals, joining Clint Dempsey and Brian McBride in that exclusive club.

While he did not get credit for an assist, midfielder Tyler Adams played an important role on second-place RB Leipzig's final goal in its 3-3 draw at first-place Bayern Munich in a top of the table Bundesliga clash.

Adams sent a pass to the left flank to Angelino, who set up Emil Forsberg's 48th-minute goal. USMNT defender Chris Richards subbed replaced Jerome Boateng for the hosts in the 84th minute.

Nicholas Gioacchini drew a foul that set up the penalty-kick equalizer in Caen's 1-1 home draw with Grenoble Foot 38. Yoann Court converted the PK in the 76th minute.

In other Saturday action involving USMNT players:

  • Defender Sergino Dest started before he was replaced by Francisco Trincão in the 77th minute of Barcelona's 2-1 away defeat to Cadiz. Forward Konrad de la Fuente was not in the 18.

  • Center back John Brooks played the full 90 minutes as his Wolfsburg team rallied from a one-goal deficit to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Köln.

  • Defender Antonee Robinson went the entire way for Fulham in its 2-0 road defeat at Manchester City. Teammate and defender Tim Ream was on the bench, but did not play. Likewise for City goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

  • Defender Erik-Palmer Brown played 90 minutes for Austria Wien in its 4-0 home loss to Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga.

  • Midfielder Duane Holmes competed for the opening 64 minutes of Derby's 1-0 away win at Millwall in the English Championship.

  • On Friday, center back Matt Miazga performed 90 minutes for Anderlecht, which played host Zulte-Waregem to a 2-2 draw in the Belgian First Division A.

  • Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath suited up but did not play for Club Brugge in its 1-0 home win past Sint-Truiden in Belgian First Division A action.
