No. 4 Ohio State returns to action on Saturday with plenty to prove as its Big Ten title and College Football Playoff hopes hang in the balance. The Buckeyes are just 4-0 in part due to games against Maryland and Illinois getting canceled amid COVID-19 issues, the second set being positive tests within in the program, including coach Ryan Day, who will remain home Saturday.
Defensive line coach Larry Johnson assumes head coaching duties for the game as Day is not the only member of the Ohio State program unable to participate, but he's certainly one of the most notable. The Buckeyes aim to not only win but do so in a manner that will impress the CFP Selection Committee. Quarterback Justin Fields is looking to bounce back from a three-interception game, while Ohio State's defense that has some questions to answer after allowing 26.0 points per game (No. 45 in FBS) and 5.97 yards per play (No. 83 in FBS) so far this season. On paper, this still looks like one of the best teams in the country, but without the results to match it's going to be difficult to win those debates in the committee room later this month.
