No. 6 Florida's tandem of quarterback Kyle Trask and tight end Kyle Pitts have set the SEC aflame with their gaudy stats during the Gators' 7-1 start, and Trask could flirt with a particularly ridiculous mark on Saturday at Tennessee. If Trask throws six touchdowns, which he has already done on two occasions in 2020, he will tie the FBS record for most touchdown passes through nine games in a season. Trask is second nationally in passing yards per game at 351.3 and fifth in passer rating at 196.79.
Individual accolades are probably an afterthought for Trask as he seeks to guide Florida to the College Football Playoff. But if the Gators open up a big lead against a struggling Volunteers team, they could become the storyline of the second half as Trask tries to build his Heisman Trophy resume. That said, coach Dan Mullen has not shown a propensity to run up the score or Trask's stats this year. The Vols have mustered just three interceptions this season, a dismal mark for third-year coach Jeremy Pruitt, a defensive mind with a background coaching defensive backs. Tennessee desperately needs an upset win to change the trajectory of Pruitt's tenure, but getting one these Gators will be a tall order.
