When he enrolled at North Central College in Naperville, a young Nick Shepkowski, the pride of Coal City, Ill., thought he wanted to be a teacher.
He quickly realized he didn’t have the patience to deal with rambunctious children, so that career path was out.
So instead, he wound up spending the last 15 years as a sports radio producer. Go figure.
After his roommates introduced him to the campus radio station as a sophomore, Shepkowski got an internship at 670 The Score that began the day after the Bears lost a playoff game to the Carolina Panthers almost 15 years ago.
His first show was working on the weekday evening Chicago Football Live with Doug Buffone and a rotating group of hosts.
