TUCSON, Ariz. -- One non-profit is stepping up to help Southern Arizona businesses avoid becoming another statistic.
SCORE is a resource meant to help small businesses and when the non-profit said the city of Tucson asked them to continue their work, but for COVID-19 relief for business owners who were not expecting to close their doors -- they began webinars.
“There are all types of webinars that are related to the issues we’re talking about COVID-19 as well as recovery, going back to work basically," said David Terrell, SCORE Southern Arizona
SCORE has been around for more than half a century, providing mentorships to business owners, but when the coronavirus took its hold on the economy locally and nationally, the non-profit stepped up and switched gears.
“This has been an unprecedented event. Everybody is in sort of a position where they’re having to make a lot of changes and changes always difficult," said Terrell.
Terrell explained biggest change will be making a return to work action plan -- something that will help business owners adjust to a new normal.
“When they do come back, what type of protocol will there be for a safe return? These people, many of their employees have been off for some time. Do they need to be tested? What if they tested positive while they were out? All of those kind of things we have to consider," explained Terrell.
That is where SCORE’s low to no cost webinars and one-on-one mentoring come into play.
“We have so many talented people with backgrounds and talent in everything from sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing, literally government contracting," said Terrell.
SCORE's online resources have already provided tips and tricks to business owners on what to do if you're struggling due to lost revenue and how to navigate long-term uncertainty.
