Even though many golf courses in Wisconsin are open with restrictions, many disc golf courses remain closed. David Davis of Edgerton continues to build his own course in his backyard.
Call it a labor of love. Davis has poured in over 100 hours of work and counting into his property project. He cuts down and removes dead trees as he maps out his course.
"When I came across this property, I saw a vision and started working on it," said Davis. "I've had friends and family that have come along to help make it what it is today."
He hopes to build it into an 18 hole course. Right now he has six baskets, a seventh basket is expected to arrive on Tuesday to rotate on 12 playable holes on his property.
"With our property here, doing it at home it makes it tough, but we are creative," said Davis. "I think we're creating a fun place for people to come play."
Even in the midst of a pandemic, Davis continues to build a dream for a sport he loves, right in his backyard.
"The payoff is having my friends and family with me playing the sport," said Davis. "It's something about it flying man, I enjoy it."
Davis says for now his course is open to friends and family. He hopes to host a tournament in the future with outside players.
