The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts announced the 2019 Student Outreach Programme, offering young people access to world class artists and thrive on opportunities to interact with and learn from them.
The Festival’s Executive Director T.J. Armand said: “Thanks to the supporters of the Festival, the Student Outreach Programme will be free of charge for students and educators.
“Participation is by reservation only and on a first come first served basis as there are limited number of seats available per event. Some workshops are by invitation only; such as the 2nd Annual On Stage Competition and Heather Nova Songwriting Competition for female participants aged 11-19.
“The Student Outreach 2019 Programme includes a year-round Shakespeare On The Rock initiative, a new songwriting competition led by Heather Nova, and workshops from the participating lineup of artists of 44th Annual Bermuda Festival.
“A dance workshop with Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company, an interactive workshop with the cast of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a ‘bubble-ology’ science and technique session with the Amazing Bubble Man, talks with the Tony Award-nominated Maty Bridget Davies about her role as Janis Joplin, behind-the scenes Broadway tips with Rebecca Faulkenberry, 2nd Annual On Stage Competition, a talkback session with playwright Christina Ham [Nina Simone-Four Women], a performance and Q&A with The Queen’s Six, improvisation techniques with the cast of Broadway’s Next Hit Musical, a vocal workshop with opera singer Kirsten Z. Cairns on vocal techniques of Maria Callas [Terrence McNally’s Tony Award winning play Master Class], and an instrumental workshop with the Frisson Ensemble will all be a part of the 2019 programme.”
