3 Days in...Bermuda

by Alex Palmer | November 07, 2018

A couple of hours' flight from the U.S., this island feels a world away, with a rich culture and fascinating, pirate-filled history that make it a great option for groups. Here are some must-see highlights while in Bermuda.

DAY 1: FOOD AND TOURS

11:00 AM
Get oriented by taking part in a history or culture tour around the island. Bermuda's Eco Adventure by Longtail Tours takes visitors around the diverse landscapes of Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, Cooper's Island and Tom Moore's Jungle. The Hamilton History and Tales Tour can introduce visitors to the destination's fascinating heritage and colorful tales, while the Take a Bite Out of Bermuda Food Tour offers up local insights on the destination's rich food culture and favorite dishes.

5:00 PM
Speaking of food, a visit to Bermuda must include a sampling of the beloved Bermuda Spiny Lobster, which has a harder shell and boasts much more tender meat than its Maine cousins. Visitors can enjoy this rich treat at a number of the island's seafood-forward restaurants, including The Lobster Pot, Blu Restaurant and Harbourfront Restaurant.

DAY 2: STEP INTO THE PAST

11:00 AM
Make your way to the historic Royal Naval Dockyard for an afternoon of exploring. The stone buildings and fortifications hearkening back to the days of the British Empire remain largely intact and now house a wide range of storefronts and attractions, including the National Museum of Bermuda, Arts & Crafts Market and Glassblowing Studio.

3:00 PM
Visit King's Square in St. George's, dating back to the British Colonial era. Attractions like the Town Hall (boasting historic furnishings, art and artifacts such as letters from Queen Elizabeth II), the Bermuda National Trust Museum and even a docking stool once used for public punishments and now used during frequent historic reenactments are all here to entertain visitors.

DAY 3: NATURAL WONDERS

11:00 AM
Get some beach time in at one of this destination's stunning pink-sand beaches. Favorites such as Horseshoe Bay Beach, Elbow Beach and Jobson's Cove Beach offer beachgoers hard-to-beat spots for taking in some sun or taking a nap.

3:00 PM
This country's natural wonders extend deep below ground. A tour of the Crystal or Fantasy Caves gives visitors a chance to see the clear azure pools and striking rock formations hiding below the surface. With just the occasional drip of water as the only sound, it's hard not to feel a sense of peace and calm among such natural beauty.

5:00 PM
Toast a successful trip with one of Bermuda's national drinks: the ginger-and-rum refreshment of a dark 'n stormy or the boozy sweetness of a rum swizzle. Both are available almost anywhere on the island, but why not enjoy them at the place reputed to have invented the rum swizzle, the Swizzle Inn located in Baileys Bay.
