The Bermuda Under-14 side struck twice in added time to beat Cuba 2-1 in the opening game of the Caribbean Football Union Boys’ Challenge Series in Cayman Islands yesterday.
Coach Cecoy Robinson’s side, who fell behind in the eighteenth minute, levelled in the 91st minute through La Zai Outerbridge who headed home a cross from substitute Sekai Tatem.
Bermuda grabbed a winner in the final kick of the game when Deniche Hill fired past the Cuba goalkeeper after good work by substitute Stefan Jones.
Milai Perot, the Bermuda goalkeeper, made several saves in the first half as Cuba pushed for a second goal, while Ahtaio Burgess almost gave his side the lead when he chased down the goalkeeper as he attempted to clear the ball. Burgess blocked the kick and rounded the goalkeeper but could not hit the target from a tight angle.
Bermuda play Cayman Islands tomorrow and the US Virgin Islands on Wednesday.
