The Bermuda Police Force today appealed with islanders to provide information that could solve the territory’s latest murder.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels confirmed the woman killed last Friday in Pembroke Parish was Diante Trimm.
Trimm was shot at her home at around 12:30am.
The 37-year-old was a mother of five children, whose ages ranged from nine and 19 year of age.
Trimm is Bermuda’s second murder victim for the year.
Her murder was the first for 2024 involving a firearm.
Daniels said preliminary information revealed Trimm’s killing “was a targeted attack.”
“Tragically this is the ninth female to be murdered in Bermuda since 2008 and the second since 2020 with the use of a firearm,” he said.
Daniels said police will be stepping up patrols in North Hamilton ahead of the busy Bermuda Heroes Weekend.
Derricka Burns, Chief Inspector, said the public’s participation is crucial to bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing further bloodshed.
Burns said persons in Friswells Hill may have seen or heard something that could help with their case.
“The public's cooperation is crucial in helping to solve this case and bring those responsible to justice. What we do not want is for people to retaliate or take matters into their own hands. Come forward and let the police handle this through the criminal justice system,” she said.
A dedicated team of police officers is assigned to the case and any information can be shared via the Crimestoppers tipline at 800-8477 or by contacting Inspector Clifford Roberts at 717-0590/croberts2@bps.bm.
