Noah Lyles dips below 10 seconds in windy 100m at USATF Bermuda Grand Prix - Olympics

Reigning world champion Noah Lyles blitzed to victory in the men’s 100 metres in gusty conditions at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix on Sunday (28 April).

Lyles made his second outdoor appearance of the season stopping the clock in a wind-aided (three metre per second tailwind) time of 9.96 seconds. The American sprinter beat Canada’s Aaron Brown (10.09s) to the line, with compatriot Pjai Austin (10.10s) rounding out the podium.

Lyles, the reigning men’s 100m and 200m world champion, has made a strong start to the outdoor season which he opened at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida earlier this month with a time of 10.01s.

The 26-year-old Lyles will be looking to find some positive momentum ahead of Paris 2024 where he could potentially be going for four podium places in the two individual short sprint events and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

American teenager Christian Miller last weekend clocked a wind-legal world lead of 9.93s.
