Sunday night baseball this week brings us yet another Red Sox-Yankees game. The Yankees are sitting pretty in first place in the NL East at 14-6 while the Red Sox at 6-15 bring in the AL's worst record. The Yankees are down three of their best offensive players, as Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge and now DJ LeMahieu are on the injured list. Still, they have plenty of other big hitters and the Red Sox sport the worst ERA in baseball at 6.10.
For the Red Sox, Chris Mazza gets the ball for his first career start. So far this season, he's worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out three. He threw 48 pitches vs. the Yankees on Aug. 1 and hasn't had official MLB action since, so it remains to be seen how long he can last. On the Yankees' end, it's J.A. Happ, who has a 10.29 ERA in two 2020. starts, perhaps providing a glimmer of hope for the Red Sox.
