Next on the Tee: Colorado State continues its spring slate at The Show at Spanish Trail, Feb. 14-15. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by UNLV, is being played at Spanish Trail Country Club (Par 72 - 6,400 yards) in Las Vegas, Nev.
Lineup for the The Show at Spanish Trail: The Rams are in the play-five, count-four event this week at Spanish Trail Country Club. For CSU, the lineup will be:

Handicapping the Field In Las Vegas: Joining Colorado State and host UNLV for the 2022 event are Augusta, Cal Poly, Fresno State, Furman, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, James Madison, Nevada, New Mexico, North Florida, Old Dominion, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Washington.
Last Time Out: .Colorado State put together its second under-par round of the tournament and moved up two spots to finish seventh at the 2022 FAU Paradise Invitational Feb. 7-8. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Florida Atlantic University, was played at Osprey Point Golf Club's Raven and Falcon nines (Par 72 – 6,204 yards) in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Rams came out and completed its second round early in the morning, finishing at 8-over 296 to sit in ninth at 4-over 580. CSU put it together in the final 18, shooting its second 4-under 284 of the event and improved from ninth to seventh in the final standings at even-par 864. Florida pulled out the team title out of a three-team tie through 36 holes, finishing at 29-under 835, three shots ahead of Vanderbilt at 26-under 838 and six beyond Mississippi State at 23-under 841. South Florida finished fourth at 11-under 853, with Missouri rounding out the top five teams at 7-under 857.
Sophomore Sofia Torres shot a 2-under 70 in the final to finish at 4-under 212 in 14th. The 2-under 70 in the final round tied a season best, while the 212 total is a career low by eight shots in her first under-par tournament finish at CSU. It was also Torres fifth career top-20 finish.
"Sofia had a great week with three consecutive under-par rounds," head coach Laura Cilek said. "She played with confidence and trusted her game which is great to see!"
On her birthday, junior Andrea Bergsdottir celebrated with also posting a 2-under 70 in the last 18 to tie for 21st at 1-under 215. It was also a career-low 54-hole total for Bergsdottir and a season-low round, tied with her opening round. Junior Gabby Minier and freshman Pemika Arphamongkol tied for 40th at 3-over 219, while freshman Lacey Uchida tied for 59th at 8-over 224. Mississippi State's Julia Lopez Ramirez took home medalist honors by four shots, finishing at 16-under 200.
"I felt like our entire team prepared well for the last couple weeks, and it was nice to see them come out and put it together in a tournament," Cilek continued. "It was a solid start to our spring season, and I am looking forward to the rest of the spring with this crew!"We knew it was going to be harder. There were definitely some moments of teaching today. They're not going to learn unless they make the choice and see the difference in outcome. It was definitely a day where we learned a lot, and sometimes those are hard and disappointing, but those are the days where you get the most out of it."
More On the Spring Opener: There were several additional highlights from the spring-opening FAU Paradise Invitational.
The first and third rounds for the Rams are the low for the season and tied for the sixth lowest rounds in program history.
CSU's even-par 54-hole total of 864 is the fourth lowest score ever for the Rams.
The current team average of 295.47 is a current single-season average low and program lowest versus par so far.
Sofia Torres shot a 4-under 214 at the event, which is tied for the 10th best event performance ever.
Junior Andrea Bergsdottir currently ranks fourth in career scoring average while fellow junior Gabby Minier is ninth on the list.
Fast Five On the 2021-22 Season:
This is the sixth tournament for the Rams this season as CSU is coming off its best 18- (4-under 284) and 54-hole scores (even par 864) of the year.
The Rams have three top-10 and 11 top-25 individual finishes this season, with the 11 top-25s going to five separate players (Panchalika Arphamongkol, Andrea Bergsdottir, Gabby Minier, Sofia Torres and Lacey Uchida).
The Rams are the only college team in the country to feature two pairs of sisters on the roster (Panchalika & Pemika Arphamongkol and Thea & Tomine Bjerkelo).
Head coach Laura Cilek is in her fourth year as leader of the Rams.
CSU returns the top five scorers from last year, but all three freshmen have cracked the lineup at least once each so far this season.
Friendly Honored As All-American Scholar: Freshman Panchalika Arphamongkol was named to the 2020-21 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team as the association announced its annual honors. The criteria to be named an All-American Scholar includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Overall, 1,432 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the prestigious All-American Scholar honor including a combined 38 from the Mountain West.
On the World Stage: Two Rams on the current roster are ranked among the top 1200 players in the current World Amateur Golf Rankings, as of February 5. The rankings are based on their average performance in selected counting events over the past two calendar years.
